The manuscript for this occasional piece, written by Dvorak when he was nineteen, was found in the estate of the composer’s teacher in Zlonice, Antonin Liehmann. The music bears an inscription in the composer’s own hand: “Zlonice, 27 February 1860, during the village fair.” This is one of Dvorak’s first surviving compositions.
