Kozanek, Emil (1856 - 1927)

Lawyer, organiser of music events in Kromeriz, pianist, member of the committee and later chairman of the Moravan choral society. He became acquainted with Dvorak while he was studying in Prague; they remained in contact throughout their lives, with the result that Dvorak’s works were frequently performed in Moravia. Dvorak often visited Kozanek in Kromeriz and on several occasions also conducted performances of his own works here: in 1886 Stabat mater, in 1891 Saint Ludmila, and in 1892 his Requiem.
