Emil Kozánek (1856–1927)

Lawyer, organiser of music events in Kroměříž, pianist, member of the committee and later chairman of the Moravan choral society. He became acquainted with Dvořák while he was studying in Prague; they remained in contact throughout their lives, with the result that Dvořák’s works were frequently performed in Moravia. Dvořák often visited Kozánek in Kroměříž and on several occasions also conducted performances of his own works here: in 1886 Stabat mater, in 1891 Saint Ludmila, and in 1892 his Requiem.
